UMSI Meeting: December 16, 2008

5:15 PM: Call to Order

I. Going over the Agenda:
	a. Finalize the letters going to the schools
	b. Advertising
	c. committee for sending out and contacting the schools for Feb. Open House

B. Advertising
	-Robin called Indy's Child and they're giving us a discount on a half page ad ($300 off)
	-$1630 for the ad
	-UMSI can't pay, but 10 schools can split the cost ($130 for one month's advertising)
	-community calendar:
		-Tara: Indy's Star and Wish TV (Tara), CH 13, Fox 59
	-Fox59: Tara: parent is on tv station and wants to do a morning spot
		-what will the content be? short or extensive? interview or straight spot
		-email parent and let us know when it will happen 
	-Liz: are there 10 schools in our area who will pay?
		-we need to send out a contract to schools so that they'll reimburse us
		-non-UMSI members can contribute at this point because Montessori Week isn't sponsored by UMSI
		-MSW will pay, Little Flower will pay, The Northside Montessori will pay, The Montessori Learning Center will pay, Montessori Centers will pay
		-we need to call all of the area Montessori schools by this Friday
			-Liz: Clay and Fishers, Acorn and Carmel
			-Robin: Montessori Centers, Children's Habitat, Country Children's House, Country Children's House preschool, Geist Montessori
			-Tara: Community, Montessori's Children House in Beech Grove, Mont. Child. Garden 
			-Jessica: Seybolt Montessori Acadamy: Marion, Montessori Discovery School: Indianapolis, Center Grove Montessori
		-What are we saying when we call?
			-Date; introduce yourself
			-UMSI would like to get together with the Indy area schools to promote National Montessori Week on Sunday, February 22nd, from 1-3.
			-We are collectively going to post an ad in Indy's child and we would like to know if you would like to participate.
			-We're going to equally divide the charges between all the school who respond. It's $1350 and we've got more than ten schools in the area and if we get 
			-Each school will be listed in Indy's Child for the entire month of the February issue.	
			-we will need a response by Thursday, January 8th and your check
				-try to get positive responses in by the Friday, January 2nd meeting
			-we will make follow up calls on Tuesday, January 6th
		-UMSI will throw in an extra $100 so we can say: sponsored in part by UMSI
		-the other two regions can also take $100 toward their ads

D. Website
	-UMSIndiana.org will be our new website address
	-Liz will obtain the domain name and set up web site with input
	-she will need UMSI debit card

A. Reading and Editing of the UMSI Open House letter
	-will be put together and sent out January 3rd
	-need to include a paper copy of UMSI registration: by joining UMSI you will be guaranteed to receive more information and discounts for upcoming events
	-full sheet on a different color		
	-Susan of Laughing Star will help us with a database: 513.683.5682: Liz calling
	-Jessica: finish editing letter; bring to Jan. 2nd meeting? email to Robin for printing.
	-Liz will print labels
