MONTESSORI ADVOCACY:
FURTHERING THE MONTESSORI MOVEMENT IN INDIANA

MONTESSORI WINS
One of UMSI’s primary goals is to decrease barriers to Montessori education for Indiana families. This includes not only strengthening the Montessori movement here in our state, but also reaching out and forming partnerships throughout the Indiana educational landscape. For example, UMSI’s Advocacy Committee works with legislators and regulators to build better paths to licensure for Montessori childcare programs and clarify school definitions with the Indiana Department of Education.
Indiana is a leader in Montessori legislative advocacy, with several important programs in place. Please click on the buttons below to learn more about each of these wins and find links to additional information.

LET’S WORK TOGETHER
It is so important that Indiana Montessorians speak with a unified voice when working with legislators and regulators. We are stronger together! Legislators are much more likely to listen when we work as a group and synchronize our messaging and efforts. When the voice of Montessori becomes disjointed or unpredictable, this can damage the forward momentum of the Montessori movement. If you have a question, concern, or idea related to Montessori advocacy please reach out! Let’s work together.
